APAA2007Category/Event: More than 500 delegates for the 54th Asian Patent Attorneys Association Council Meeting (APAA)

A hotly contested category for the best meeting of the year assessed on outcomes achieved, significance of the event, smooth organisation, partnerships and solutions to the challenges.

The Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) holds it Council Meeting every year rotating around capital cities in Asia. One of the important aspects of an APAA Council Meeting is the Presidents and officials convening to discuss developments and changes in patent law. This involves approximately 300 delegates. 

One of the most important roles of an APAA Council Meeting is the networking, networking, networking!! Patent attorneys can only practice in their country, therefore to work internationally and receive international business they need to develop strong relationships and APAA is the one meeting of the year which brings all its members together. Delegates use the APAA Council Meetings to continue existing relationship and develop new ones in new regions of Asia.

The CEPSA Incentive Australia 2008 was a luxury nine day program for 120 guests chosen from CEPSA Spanish and Portuguese service station’s proprietors. Our Destination Management devised a creative and stunning itinerary indulging guests with an exclusive and tailor-made program to Port Douglas, Uluru and Sydney.

ICLEICategory: less than 500 delegates for ACCELERATING NOW!  Local action: sustainability: ICLEI Oceania 2007 Conference

ICLEI Oceania, was hosted by ICLEI–Australia/New Zealand Oceania Secretariat (ICLEI-A/NZ) and was attended by 458 delegates. This was the first Australasian ICLEI-A/NZ Conference and the objectives were to review Local Governments progression and identify a way forward or roadmap for Local Governments in pursuit of sustainability, showcase the breadth and variety of approaches undertaken to achieve the campaign goals, strengthen council’s capacity for effective action, increase awareness, Gain long term partnerships to fund more campaign projects, Increase membership of ICLEI, develop an event aligned with “Green Event” principles, establish online approaches to engage efficiently and ensure the program emerges consultatively and meets the needs of participants and to operate a totally carbon neutral event.

The prestigious G-20 Ministerial 2006 summit which brought leading world economic powers to Australia for high-level discussions. Held at the Melbourne Hyatt with Reserve Bank Governors and Treasury Ministers in attendance, the meeting ran flawlessly, demonstrating the way in which skilled conference managers can work hand in hand with government officials. It was a praiseworthy partnership between government and the private sector, with the result being a highly successful event that served well to enhance Australia's reputation for economic and political meetings.

Category: More than 500 delegates for 5th International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Diseases (ISPPD5) NATIONAL MEA AWARD

ISPPD5 is the International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Diseases.  These diseases result in the deaths of over a million children per year worldwide.  Alice Springs was chosen as a location for this meeting as Aboriginal children in Central Australia experience the highest reported rate of invasive Pneumococcal disease. This is a disease that largely affects children in remote communities and is believed to result in the deaths of over a million children per year worldwide.

The Congress was an exciting international event attracting pre-eminent head and neck surgeons to Australia and showcasing our national advances in the field plus giving our local industry the opportunity to network with the best in the world.  The conference program was exceptional as it contained four live cadaver dissections projected in 3D to all delegates.

2005 Meeting of the Year

19th World Energy CongressCategory: Over 500 delegates for the 19th World Energy Congress (MEA NSW)
Client: Sydney World Energy Congress Pty Limited
Venue: Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre
Date: 5-9 September 2004

This Congress attracted 3,500 total participants and consisted of 5 days of formal meetings including both plenary and concurrent sessions.  A large 10,000 square metre exhibition was also conducted at the Congress. An Executive Assembly Meeting was held over 4 days preceding the Congress and was attended by some 300 representatives of the country committees.  Some of the major features of the Congress were:

  • A host of ancillary and private meetings held around the Congress timetable (mainly being breakfast and lunch meetings/functions and evening cocktail and dinner events)
  • High level of security provision including photo ID access,
  • Conception, project management and execution of exceptional events including Opening Ceremony, Gala Dinner, Farewell Party and VIP sponsor hosted events.
